Following the reports that a man was found dead in the swimming pool of her Los Angeles property, "Indecent Proposal" actress Demi Moore released a statement saying she is in a state of shock.
"I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news," said the 52-year-old actress in the statement released to Entertainment Weekly before adding that her heart goes out to the young man's family and friends at this difficult time.
The matter is still under police investigation, though, it appears to be the case of an accidental death. The man, who was discovered floating in the pool on the morning of July 19, Sunday, is now identified as Edenilson Steven Valle and is believed to be a member of the staff.
Valle's family told investigators that he did not know how to swim. The man was apparently present at Moore's house for a party thrown by her assistant and probably had wandered off to the pool area. When the 21-year-old man went missing for 15 minutes, his friends went to look for him and found him floating in the deep end of the pool, Los Angeles Times reported.
Neither Moore nor any of her family member was present at the house at the time of the accident. Moore, who is known to be one of the highest paid actress of her time, bought the Los Angeles house together with her former husband Ashton Kutcher for $3.15million in 2003, before renovating it further to add two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a children's den. The couple later split in 2012.
