"Wayward Pines" is only two days away from its highly anticipated finale. The Fox's newest science-fiction features the final segment Episode 10 titled "Cycle" on July 23, 2015 and reveals the fate of the creepy town and its residents. The war with the abbies has begun and the residents must do whatever it takes to save themselves from these monstrous creatures. Episode 9 sees the death of some of the residents of Wayward Pines, including Harold, at the hand of Jason, who claims to be "first class of the Academy." Jason is about to kill Kate when Ethan arrives and rescues her. Meanwhile, Theresa continues her investigation of mysterious plot 33 and discovers a video revealing the details.
The episode ended with a massive cliffhanger. Pilcher cuts the power supply of the town therefore inactivating the electric fences that protects the town from abbies.
According to Spoiler TV's description for "Wayward Pines" Episode 10 "Reckoning," the future of the town is in danger after Pilcher shut down the electricity of the town therefore making it vulnerable to abbies' attack.
Fans can expect the finale to be packed with action sequences as Ethan and Kate battle against the abbies and attempt to keep the residents safe. As for Nurse Pam, she confronts her bother Pilcher and tries to convince him to change his mind.
While Ethan and Kate make a plan for the attack, the first generation decides to deal with the threat on their own in order to protect the town from its downfall.
Fans know that the M. Night Shyamalan and Chad Hodge's show is based on Blake Crouch's novels with the same name. According to IBTimes, if the finale segment is anything like the ending of the book then fans must prepare themselves to witness multiple deaths.
In the book, abbies kill many Wayward Pines residents before they are defeated in the battle and pushed out of the town. The survivors include Ethan and some other 250 people in the town.
The website notes that there is a twist at the end of the book. After their war with abbies, the residents realise that that they are running out of food supply. Thus, they decide to go under "cryogenic sleep." As per the last line of the book, Ethan and others wake up 70,000 years later.
