Another woman and her kid were the surprise victims of a nasty surprise on Friday when they ordered a Happy Meal. Besides the chicken nuggets, they found a razor blade at the bottom of the paper bag.
Marissa Gocdoles and daughter Analyn were horrified by the discovery. "They could have been seriously injured, and that scares me," says Marissa. She returned the bag to the counter and showed it to the crew, and the McDonald's employee walked away with the box.
He gave Marissa two regional numbers to call, and on the fourth day, she got a call back. Marissa demanded inspection for McDonald's stores to ensure the incident does not happen again.
McDonald's apparently has a history of blades mysteriously popping into its meals. On June 29, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation made four employees of the fast food chain undergo polygraph tests after a customer complained of finding a razor blade in her family's order. But the lie detector test confirmed that the four did not know who placed the razor in the meal or how it got in the order, reports WBIR.
The blade was in the cheeseburger, along with the toppings, according to Dawn Hammock of Winfield, Tennessee. As proof of her claim, Dawn took a photo of the burger. "I felt a piece of metal hit my teeth and I pulled out the hamburger, opened it up to see what was in it and sure enough there was a razor blade," Dawn recounts.
The woman returned to the McDonald's outlet, got a refund and was offered another burger. However, what riled her was that no one took responsibility for the incident, prompting her to file a report with Oneida police.
Kevin Hailey, owner of the McDonald's franchised outlet, said the health inspector of Scott County stopped by their restaurant and found no critical problem. Hailey adds that the store got 95 out of 100 in the inspection.
