Hints, leaks and rumors shape up what would be the Google Nexus 2015 on release date. But even in the absence of concrete indications for the device’s killer specs and features, a few things about the vanilla Android flagship have been known and largely confirmed.

Five of them, briefly detailed below, are likely to be revealed with the Nexus 2015 in the few months to come:

Android M

It is be default that for every new Nexus model to debut there is a new Android version to arrive. Google has already announced that its next mobile operating system is Android M though clearly the current label will be different from the final cut.

It will be something sweet but in some blog reports, it is already being called as Android 5.2, which was derived from the way that Google has set the clock, at 5:20, in press renders of the upcoming mobile OS. Last year, before Lollipop was made official the software's advanced press images showed the time at 5:00 and Lollipop indeed was assigned as Android 5.0.

Biometric features

As early as the Lollipop last year, codes for a fingerprint reader have been detected on Android and it appears that in Android M the same codes were not only carried over but will likely be activated. This could only mean one thing - that biometrics will be fully supported in Android 5.2 and the initial implementation is a fingerprint sensor.

It is safe to assume that Google will not stop at reading fingerprints to unlock and secure devices running on Android and protect transactions that will be processed inside the platform. The minimum expectation is the not too remote introduction of iris recognition, which vendors like LG are now working on to perfection.

Quad HD display

The Motorola Nexus 6 last year impressed with its Quad HD display panel and there is no going back for Google and whoever the tech giant's a would-be partner on its Nexus 2015 project. There is little question that QHD is part of the next Nexus phone. What is left to excite is the technology's actual rendering like: Will the Nexus 2015 wow with a 2K resolution?

Two Nexus builders

Google will deviate from its Nexus template by reportedly working with two manufacturers for its 2015 flagships. LG is said to take on the Nexus Bullhead, which is a 5.2-inch device, while Huawei is said to assemble the Nexus Angler. The latter is phablet-size at 5.7-inch.

While Google has yet to comment on the matter, issuing two devices in a year will make sense for the Nexus maker considering that Apple and Samsung now have two flagships. Essentially, the two Nexus phones this 2015 will tussle with Apple's duo of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and of Samsung's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5.

Pricing

Many Android fans are convinced that pricing of the Nexus 2015 devices will be a big departure from last year. In 2014, Google experimented with the high-end Nexus 6 and tagged it a starting price of $650 with the top model going as high as $800. Not too many took a bite.

So Google is making corrections and will likely sell any of the Nexus 2015 models at no more than $500. But since it is becoming evident that the Huawei Nexus Angler is the premium model as against the LG Nexus Bullhead, the former should prove more expensive on release date.
