Hype around Nexus 5 (2015) has begun gaining momentum with its release date coming near. Many speculations are doing the rounds about the specifications of the upcoming handset.
According to reports, the new Nexus smartphone should measure up against Nexus 6. The tech giant Google has the tradition of launching its Nexus devices in October or November, therefore, its forthcoming Nexus 5 (2015) is also anticipated to be released around the same time. Jamal Eason, Product Manager of Android, has said that Android M is scheduled for release this fall.
Android Police had earlier reported that Google may release two Nexus smartphones - one to be manufactured by the electronics maker LG and the other to be manufactured by Chinese manufacturer Huawei.
According to several reports, the new Nexus device will have a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The 2015 Nexus 5 will run on Android M operating system and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.
The handset is expected to have a 13 MP main camera and a 2 MP front snapper. It will also have a non-removable 2300 mAh battery and 3 GB RAM.
On the other hand, the Nexus 6 has a 2 MP front snapper and a 13 MP main camera. It sports a 5.96-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
The Nexus 6 smartphone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop (upgradable to 5.1 Lollipop) and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.7 GHz. Other features include a non-removable Li-Po 3220 mAh battery, 3 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal memory.
The Nexus 6 was priced $699 for the 64GB version and $649 for the 32 GB variant when it was released, which was a steep hike over $400 for the 32 GB model of Nexus 5 (2013) and $350 for the 16 GB variant. However, according to a Geek Snack report, the Nexus 5 (2015) will be priced under $500.
