With the action car racing film "Fast and Furious 8" hitting the big screen two years from now, it has been rumored that Justin Lin is set to helm the upcoming film and Dame Helen Mirren is the film's newest antagonist.
"Fast and Furious's" Dominic Toretto himself, Vin Diesel, shared a photo on his official Instagram account, showing him sitting next to director Lin. It is evident in the photo that the gentlemen were happy and were having a good time. The photo got more than 285,000 likes.
Diesel's photo has led fans to speculate that Lin is going to return and helm the eight installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, according to Venture Capital Post.
Lin is known to helm 2009's "Fast and Furious," 2011's "Fast Five," and 2013's "Fast and Furious 6." However, the director's chair had "Saw" director James Wan for "Fast and Furious 7," which premiered on April 3.
"The Queen" actress Mirren is also rumored to be part of the cast of the upcoming film, playing the most recent villain for Toretto's team. In her interview with Yahoo Movies in March, the actress expressed her interest to become part of the car racing franchise, as she loves Diesel as an actor.
Aside from Diesel and Mirren, "Fast and Furious 8" stars Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw. Cody Walker has been rumored to play the role of Jack O'Conner. Along with Diesel, Neal H. Mortiz is set to co-produce the film while Gary Scott Thompson is on board to pen the film script.
The film is not yet available to the big screen until 2017, so other details like additional cast members and exact plot details have yet to be released.
"Fast and Furious 8" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Apr. 14, 2017.
