The wait for Google's Nexus 2015 is rumored to end by September, which is said to the device release date alongside that of Android M. But holding out for the pure Android flagship may not be necessary at all because of two upcoming high-end phones - the LG G4 Pro and the Moto X 2015.
The third Moto X is shaping up as the best in the line so far and early reports suggest that the latest build will mark a huge jump on Motorola's part. The G4 Pro, on the other hand, is regarded as a way of filling up on what were missed with the regular LG G4. LG, in fact, is touting the handset as more than a sibling of the G4 - it is a super premium phone, the South Korean firm said.
How the two upscale devices will measure up against the Nexus 2015, which Google is said to issue in two builds - the Bullhead and Angler? Basing on the leaked specs so far, any of the Moto X 2015 and LG G4 has the chops to overwhelm Google's flagship.
LG G4 Pro
Even as the specifications known so far about the G4 Pro are unconfirmed, Gotta Be Mobile boldly called the device as the best to come out this 2015. LG reportedly plans to wrap the G4 Pro with a casing that is made of metal and glass, likely to match what Samsung had delivered with the Galaxy S6 earlier this year.
Inside of the premium frame are top-notch components, led by the octa-core Snapdragon 820 chip that is paired with 4GB of RAM. Built in storage is a choice between 32GB and 64GB while the camera system is 27MP on main and 8MP on secondary. The Quad HD front panel is stretched to 5.8-inch diagonally and is the window to viewing pleasure of 2K resolution.
But what could convince Nexus fans to look beyond the 2015 flavor are the LG G4 Pro specs and features that most likely will never be found on both the Nexus Bullhead and Angler. The G4 Pro will boast of memory card expansion, a removable battery and a stylus.
It is hinted as well that LG allow a preview of the G4 Pro via the IFA 2015 that kicks off in Berlin on September 1, which indicates that the unboxing will follow in the few weeks or even days ahead. That likely would preempt any of the Nexus 2015 builds.
Moto X 2015
The third Moto X is scheduled for outing this week but a new leak provided a glimpse of what the phone is in advance, according to Droid Life. The 5.5-inch screen is Full HD that beams out in 1080p resolution. The camera combo is a definitive killer - 21MP on rear and 5MP on front.
The next-gen Moto X main engine is a Snapdragon 808 that draws its power juice from a 3600mAh battery. It could be that the Moto X will not actually out-spec the Nexus 2015, but what thing is sure the former will last longer, Droid Life said.
Most importantly, the 2015 Moto X will have three elements that either will beat or match the Nexus 2015 - expandable memory, affordable price and near-vanilla Android operating system.
The best part is, Motorola is likely to rollout the Moto X 2015 as early as next month (August) following the device's unveiling this week while Google fans will have to wait for the Nexus 2015 until the last week of September. That is if the flagship will indeed share the same release date schedule with Android M.
