British acoustic crooner Ed Sheeran will soon set aside his guitar for a while to give acting a shot in an upcoming series by FX called by Kurt Sutter.
The award winning singer will play a character named as Sir Cormac in the soon to air drama entitled "The Bastard Executioner." This acting opportunity in the singer's career will sure be memorable to Sheeran who is a self-confessed fanatic of another FX show, "Sons of Anarchy."
It can be recalled how the "Thinking Out Loud" singer once exchanged messages over Twitter with Stutter which led to a collaborative project, Hollywood Reporter stated. During the last season of Stutter's created hit show, the 24-year-old songwriter sang a cover for its final season. It was his own rendition of the track "Make It Rain" originally done by Foy Vance.
This time around, both Stutter and Sheeran will collaborate again but as director and actor. The medieval set drama will capture the story of a knight who eventually turns out to transform into some kind of an executioner.
The lead star who will play the role of the knight is Stephen Moyer who is also included in the vampire based mystery "True Blood." Sheeran's role is expected to be recurring and fans will surely find it interesting to see their favorite balladeer portray a role of a lethal and eminent senior member of a church, CBS News reported.
There is no news yet on whether the "Photograph" singer will be seen singing in the show which is expected to display tons of bloody adult scenes. However, it could be a good strategy if the show will also get the Sheeran to sing, at least for some of the tunes that will be featured in the new series' soundtrack.
For those who want to have a glimpse of the Grammy nominated artist have his way on television acting, make sure to catch this fall the beginning of "Bastard."
