"Hannibal" actress Tao Okamoto has been confirmed to play the role of Mercedes "Mercy" Graves III in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
The release of DC All Access trailer breakdown confirmed the speculation that the actress is playing the role of Lex Luthor's personal assistant and body guard.
The character was created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini and initially appeared in "Superman: The Animated Series" in 1996. Graves was originally intended in the animated series; however, she turned out to be famous that she was crossed-over into the comics as well. Now, Graves is crossing over from the comics to the big screen, as per Bam! Smack! Pow!.
Graves was also an Amazon from Themyscira, with the same island and lineage as Wonder Woman, according to Screen Rant. These common elements may lead to a potential encounter between the two female characters.
Aside from Bryan Fuller's crime drama "Hannibal," Okamoto has also appeared in Gavin Hood's "The Wolverine" as Mariko Yashida. In Hood's film, Yashida met Wolverine when the X-Men needed the help of her cousin Sunfire. She was attracted to Wolverine while the latter was lured by her loveliness and refinement.
Along with Okamoto, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Ben Affleck as Batman. The actor who is going to play Green Lantern is yet to be announced.
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to premiere in theaters in United States on Mar. 25, 2016.
