Fans are still hopeful that Jon Snow will be back in "Game of Thrones" season 6 with Kit Harington being recently seen in Belfast, Ireland, where the HBO series is being filmed. However, this may not happen based on the comments of an HBO executive.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on July 30, Thursday, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo commented on the ongoing question of whether Jon Snow is still alive.
"Dead is dead," USA Today quoted Lombardo as saying. "He is dead. Yes, everything I've seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead."
While he emphasized that Jon Snow is really dead, Lombardo did not talk about the possibility of Harington's character to be resurrected and be back in "Game of Thrones" season 6.
During the TCA summer press tour, Lombardo also talked about the possibility of having a "Game of Thrones" prequel. Pointing out that there would be "enormous storytelling to be mined," the HBO exec said he is open to anything "Game of Thrones" show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss want to do.
"Game of Thrones" season 6 is set to return in 2016 and filming has started in Ireland. During the filming, Harington was spotted with "Game of Thrones" star Ben Crompton in Belfast, TMZ has learned.
Harington is currently filming the mystery thriller "Brimstone," which is written and directed by martin Koolhoven. The film also stars Dakota Fanning, Emilia Jones, Jack Roth, Paul Anderson, Guy Pearce, Carla Juri and "Game of Thrones" star Carice van Houten, among others.
