The iPhone 6S on release date may just be an increment upgrade from the iPhone 6 in 2014 but it promises to be a game-changer. Force Touch is one of the key reasons to compel Apple fans to upgrade to the next iPhone, a new report said.
Power user-friendly
Force Touch will define the next-generation iPhone as the screen sensor technology is mainly designed for advanced iPhone users, BGR said in a report. With Force Touch, users can simply apply specific pressure when tapping on the iPhone 6S display panel and a virtual door will be unlocked.
How the game-changing function works? Users will be given "access to certain settings and options faster than before," the report added. This is a specific texture that will never be available to iPhone 6 users on those on earlier models even when these devices are upgraded to iOS 9.
As it turns out, Force Touch, which Apple first introduced via the Apple Watch, is exclusive for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The 2015 iPads are also expected to benefit from the new technology but Apple has yet to confirm on the matter.
The tech giant is likely to rollout three iPads in the coming months - the iPad Air 3, the iPad Mini 4 and the biggest of the class, the iPad Pro at 12.9-inch.
Mass production starts
In a related report, the iPhone mass production activities appear to have already started, at least for the Force Touch components. According to DigiTimes of Taiwan, Force Touch manufacturing is now on ramped up mode possibly to meet a launch date that many believe will happen in middle of September 2015.
The move to fast track is likely in support of the target to ship out 90 million units of freshly-minted iPhone 6S and 6S Plus by December 2015. Around 40 million new iPhone models are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of the year, further supporting the speculations that Apple will make the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus available in late September.
For the holiday quarter, the plan is to ship out 50 million units, DigiTimes added on its report. It appears too that Apple is so upbeat of the iPhone 6S as a game-changer on release date that it projected the device to banner a total shipment of new iPhones for the entire 2015, likely selling majority of the units, the report added.
