Android M Preview 3 release is delayed as Google is working on the "near final" build.
Wojtek Kaliciński, who is an Android Developer said that the reason for the delay is that Google is engaged in the final testing phase on the apps and needs some more time for release.
Previously, it was reported that the Android M Preview 3 would be released by July-end but due to the numerous tweaks, it is delayed. Google has not commented on a possible release date for the Android M Preview 3.
In related news, Android M Preview 2 version is out to be downloaded for devices such as Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9.
Android M Preview 2 will bring more bug fixes and will work towards making the system more stable and it can be downloaded from Developer Android. It will also add a few new features in the devices' functionality.
Users who are interested to give this preview version a test drive can download the factory image file from Google's official repository. After using it, they can report back their feedback and experience, according to GSM Arena. It will only work in those devices which are currently running on the original version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Android SDK tool and Google USB drivers can prove to be really helpful in making the process easy. The Android preview version needs to be extracted from the factory images when the device is in the Boot Loader Mode.
After it is completed, run the "flash-all.bat" script, which will trigger the installation to begin. As, this is a factory image, so it will wipe out all the data which is stored in the phone.
For those users who are already using the first Android M developer's preview, they will receive the over the air upgrade very soon.
To check for the update manually, follow the steps: Settings > About device > System updates > Check for update.
Android M is still under development, and is scheduled to be released along with Nexus 5 2015 in October.
