"The Young and the Restless" (Y&R) star Eric Braeden, who portrays the role of Victor Newman, is rumoured to be the next cast member to exit the CBS' long-running soap opera. But are these rumours true?
The 74-year-old soap veteran took to his social media account to clear the air. Addressing his hundreds of Twitter followers, the actor assured that he is not leaving "The Young and the Restless" (Y&R) and is here to stay. Braeden also shared with his fans the news about the extension of his contract for Victor Newman's role.
"For all of my friends on twitter: I AM NOT LEAVING THE SHOW!! I JUST SIGNED AN EXTENSION, SO KINDLY DON'T ASK ME THAT QUESTION AGAIN! THANKS," Braeden wrote on his Twitter account.
According to Soap Central, rumours about Braeden's exit are not new. In 2009, before the extension of his contract, reports about Braeden's potential exit surfaced. At the time, the actor himself reportedly hinted at the "end of road" for his character. Later, however, they worked out a deal.
Braeden first appeared on the show as Genoa City tycoon in the year 1980 and has been a part of several exciting story arcs. The actor has won several awards including Daytime Emmy for his work as Victor Newman in "The Young and the Restless" (Y&R).
Currently, fans can expect to see some massive drama between Braeden's character Victor and his rival Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), who recently came out of coma after accidentally being shot in Chancellor Park. Meanwhile, Jack's wife Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is determined to make Victor pay the price for his actions.
"The Young and the Restless" (Y&R) airs weekdays on CBS.
