The Pirate Bay is set to be blocked in two countries - Austria and Australia. The local ISPs are ordered by an Austrian Court to block TPB. Meanwhile, Foxtel is ready to file a legal case against websites like Pirate Bay and seek blockade in Australia.
The Commercial Court of Vienna, after the complaint from copyright holders, ordered the blockade of The Pirate Bay in Austria. The court ordered A1 Telekom to block access to TPB for their subscribers, reported TorrentFreak.
Apart from Pirate Bay, the court ordered to block h33t.to, Isohunt.to and 1337x.to. Moreover, the ISP can figure out the way to block The Pirate Bay for the subscribers.
Meanwhile, in Australia, Pay TV organisation Foxtel is taking legal advice on how to block access to The Pirate Bay in Australia.
However, the legal experts are shocked that no orders have been passed by the Federal Courts even after the law was passed.
"We are astounded, given the urgency with which this law was passed at the urging of the rights holders, that so far they haven't bothered to use it," Laurie Patton of Internet Australia said to ABC. On June 26, 2015, the law was signed.
However, the folks in the entertainment industry believe that the legal route to block websites like The Pirate Bay is costly as well as time consuming.
"Litigation, in any context, is a serious matter and it takes time to compile the evidence required to meet the standard of proof courts require if an applicant is to be successful and get the orders they seek," Music Rights Australia's spokesperson said.
It has to be seen if users would still find a way to circumvent and access The Pirate Bay in Austria and Australia.
