While the rollout of Android update on Moto smartphones is kind of slow; it appears that it will ultimately arrive on the Moto E (1st and 2nd Generation), Moto X (1st and 2nd Generation) and Moto G (1st and 2nd Generation) soon. Moto E (1st and 2nd Generation)
According to Motorola, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto E (first and second generation) should be available already, and users can check out the company's customer help site for the Moto E (1st gen) here and for the Moto E (2nd gen) here. Users who have this smartphone with this carrier should check out their Settings and see if they can get the update.
Moto G (1st and 2nd Generation)
Users of the Moto G (2014 version) should be getting the Android 5.1 update, as it is now live in China, International Business Times reported. David Schuster of Motorola hinted at the imminent release of latest Lollipop to countries like India, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The Moto G 2nd Generation Android 5.1 Lollipop rollout in China has been confirmed by several reports. There are also reports that a soak test variant of Android 5.1 for the Moto G LTE (2013 version).
Moto X (1st and 2nd Generation)
Currently, the Moto X (2013) and the Moto X (2014) are receiving the Android 5.1 update. The Moto X (2nd Generation) has reached complete deployment phase for Verizon and AT&T users of this smartphone. If users have the Moto X 2nd Gen Pure Edition through T-Mobile, then the Android 5.1 update was available to them as early as June 26.
According to reports, the Verizon Moto X, second generation, is going through a soak test for Android 5.1 Lollipop update. There are also reports that a soak test has gone out for the AT&T version of the Moto X (2nd Gen).
As for the Moto X (1st Generation), the Android 5.1 soak test has started for AT&T and Verizon. It means that Android 5.1 lollipop update will be available for users of both the subscribers pretty soon. At present, there is no information about Sprint and T-Mobile.
Android M
Android M is the newest version of Android that was revealed at Google I/O Developer's Conference. Reports suggest that it will be out sometime during the fall on the latest Android devices, and it will possibly be another slow rollout with that.
