"Sherlock" writer-cum-producer Steven Moffat revealed that they want the series to continue for a long time.
Moffat said that the decision to continue the series does not rest on him. He added that, "I don't think it will be us that switch it off. I imagine it'll be down to Benedict (Cumberbatch) and Martin (Freeman.) Obviously we can't do the show without them, and they've always said they're happy to carry on so long as it's good," according to Washington Post.
Meanwhile, a special episode of "Sherlock" is going to be back with the beauty of Victorian time London around Christmas. Cumberbatch stars in the show which revolves around the brilliant mystery solving abilities of two super sleuths.
Moffat clarified that the fans will get to get a time jump in the special Christmas episode. He also added that the fans should not wait for an explanation as to why the series has suddenly gone back in time to the era of Victorian London.
The show ended last season with Holmes about to shoot the villain. The released clip features Dr Watson and Sherlock talking to their landlady, Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs).
The show will be putting forward three episodes in its fourth season as well, according to E Online. The previous seasons also contained of three episodes each, with each of the episodes running for about an hour and a half.
The show is broadcasted on BBC, with Mark Gatiss and Moffat being the creators of the hit detective show. The Arthur Conan Doyle novel series is of course the inspiration behind this TV series.
