The spokesperson of the Kurdistan Democratic Party claimed on Friday that the Islamic State (IS) executed 19 women in Mosul on August 1 and 2. The reason for the killing is the refusal of the female captives to have sex with jihadists.
Said Mimousini, the spokesperson of the party, said IS is becoming more divided over the treatment of women and financial matters.
Besides forcing female captives to have sex with IS fighters in the name of jihad, child slaves are sold in Syria and Iraq, according to a UN official who saw the circulation of a price list of the child slaves, reports DNA India.
Zainab Bangura, the UN special envoy on sexual violence in conflict, said she was given a copy of an Islamic State pamphlet in April during a trip to Iraq. The price list said that younger children command higher prices sold to bidders made up of jihadists and rich Middle East residents.
Bangura discloses, "The girls get peddled like barrels of petrol. One girl can be sold and bought by five or six different men. Sometimes these fighters sell the girls back to their families for thousands of dollars of ransom," quotes National Post.
A boy or a girl aged 1 to 9 is sold for about $165, adolescent girls for $124 and women over 20 are sold at lower prices. Bangura says that jihadists get first crack at the children for sale then the Middle Easterners are allowed to bid for them for thousands of dollars. Those children who remain unsold are offered again to IS fighters based on the price list.
IS continues to attempt to expand its territory by battling with government forces to seize Qaryatain, a key town in central Syria, on Thursday. Qaryatain adds to Palmyra to territories held by the terrorist organization.
