Kentucky pulls the rug from Duke as it takes the no.1 spot in the 2015 College Basketball recruiting wars thanks to two international prospects: Jamal Murray from Canada and Isaac Humphries from Australia.
Jamal Murray was making waves in the Pan Am Games especially when Canada beat Team USA. He was a 2016 prospect but after the Nike Hoops Summit in June where he was described as "the best player on the floor," he decided to re-classify and commit to Kentucky. Both Rivals and ESPN ranked Kentucky no.1 over Duke after Murray declared his commitment.
Murray is a combo guard and at 6-5, can be lethal as a tall point guard. He is also left-handed which brings an advantage running the weakside. ESPN noted his shooting: "He's a true three-range scorer and good long-distance shooter who understands how to use the threat of his jumper to open up the rest of his game."
The 18-year old Canadian is adept at running the pick and roll and also has a very accurate floater-which was on display in the Pan Am Games. He is rated 9th overall in Rivals for the class of 2015 but no rating for ESPN because he doesn't go to high school in the USA.
Recently, Kentucky also secured a commitment from another international prospect in Australian big man Isaac Humphries. He is ranked 35th overall in Rivals and he is noted by NBC Sports to be an "insurance policy" for Kentucky.
Humphries is not a "typical Calipari big man" like Anthony Davis, Karl Anthony-Towns or this year's Skal Labissiere. What he is, though is a "physical low-post presence, a kid that will play hard, will rebound and has a soft-enough touch that he can finish around the rim with either hand as well as knock down the occasional jumper out to 12-15 feet."
The Aussie center may also stay in Lexington after the "one and dones" from this year have left.
