ABC Family aired the high-on-drama episode of season 3 of "The Fosters" on Aug. 10, Monday. The episode, titled "Idyllwild," showed dramatically changing relationships between Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum), Brandon (David Lambert) and Callie (Maia Mitchell), Rita (Rosie O'Donnell) and Carmen and the break-up of Monte (Annika Mraks).
The episode 9 begins with Callie trying to find the reason of animosity between Rita and Carmen. She does find out that Rita never hit Carmen and confronts the latter to know her motives. Carmen says that she is sometime high on drugs and wanted Rita to keepher mouth shut so that she can get into Army without any hindrance.
When Callie told Carmen that she is spoiling Rita's life, the latter warns her that if she spill the bean to anyone, she will let the adoption social worker know that she has seen her kissing her foster brother. Callie somehow managed to get the conversation recorded.
The group, Stef, Lena, Mariana, Monty, Jenaa and Callie goes to Idyllwild to hear Brandon's composition. The teenager has composed a tune about falling in love with someone with whom he cannot be which is rejected by his pianist. Later he plays the same piece himself which is received by a standing ovation by the crowd.
Mariana spots Mat at the competition and ended up making out when the former told the latter that she is no more a virgin and had sex with someone when they were together.
Jenaa tells Stef that Monte still has feelings for Lena, after which Stef confronts Lena about the kiss. Lena argues back that it was nothing to which Stef replies that then she should have told her about it.
Brandon is stunned by his victory and is elated to know that he will now perform at Disney Hall but becomes worried when Callie tells her that she has sent the recorded confession of Carmen to Rita so that she can clear her name. The two are worried about their future as now Carmen will tell the social worker about their relationship which will put a hindrance in Callie's adoption in the household.
After an emotional chit chat in front of the fireplace, Callie and Brandon retire to their respective room and lay staring at the ceiling. Brandon later comes to Callie's room where they kiss, undress and fall in bed together.
