Former “Criminal Minds” star Paget Brewster revealed that she would want to reprise her role as Emily Prentiss given the opportunity to do so. Fans of the CBS series have always wanted to see her character Emily Prentiss come back for season 11. The actress, however, added that it may not come as soon as viewers like.
According to TV Line, Brewster has been offered to return to the series following A.J. Cook's (JJ) absence. While promoting the new Fox series "Grandfathered" at the recent Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, the actress explained that it did not work out time-wise because of her previous engagements.
Brewster shared that Cook asked her if she wanted to come back, in which she replied that she would love to. She added that she has remained friends with all the cast members and the writers. However, when "Grandfathered" was picked up by Fox, her schedule just got jam-packed and had been difficult to squeeze in shooting for "Criminal Minds" season 11. She said that she was definitely disappointed because she wanted to reprise her role as Emily Prentiss.
Early this year, Joe Mantegna (David Rossi) and Esai Morales (Mateo Cruz), during an AMA Reddit with fans, teased that Brewster will return. They may have been cautious about revealing spoilers about the upcoming season but Mantegna confirmed that fans will be delighted to see old cast members come back.
Mantegna said that "Criminal Minds" producers have mentioned that Paget would return "from time to time," hinting that Brewster would be back in more than one episode.
