In just a span of four months, video streaming service Periscope was able to achieve a major milestone after it reaches the 10 million registered users mark. Moreover, the company claim that more than two million users log into its live-streaming service every day.
Since its launch in March, the service saw an unprecedented rise to fame and was able to record 10 million registered accounts four months after it was launched. Periscope declined to disclose the exact number of active users that shows activity on a monthly basis. Morever, the service has close to 40 years' worth of video being accessed every day.
According to Tech Crunch, more than 350,000 hours of videos are being streamed by Periscope users daily. This number does not include videos that are streamed via Internet browsers on periscope.tv. The company said that they did not include videos streamed through browsers since they want to track the medium more precisely.
Periscope posted a message on Medium saying, "At the moment, we don't include time watched from periscope.tv in our overall Time Watched metric - but we're working on being able to track this precisely enough to share."
Developers behind Periscope are also working to add new features into the app such as the inclusion of a fast-forward button for streams watched in replay. The team is also working on measures that will reduce spams contents and eradicate abusive users.
Periscope is a Twitter-owned live video steaming app. It is currently available on the Android and iOS platform. The app was created by Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein. The app was initially launched exclusively for iOS devices but was later released on Android in May.
