Google Inc. announced its latest Operating System - Android 5.2 M - during the I/O 2015.
Conventionally, the company released the OS during summer to allow developer partners some months to have a look and evaluate the OS' developer features, Ecumenical News reported. As soon as evaluation is done, the operating system will start rolling out for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 device users.
The Android M is fastening Google's move of operating systems named after desserts. Currently, the operating system is referred to as Macadamia Nut Cookie and Google enthusiasts expect this to be short-lived. Based on the version, many fans agree that the operating system is 5.2 and it will run on Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 immediately the assessment phase is concluded.
Although the updates coming along with Android 5.2 M version will not be as big at those accompanying the Android Lollipop, the Android M will have some new features, Reality Today unveiled. A major change accompanying the Android 5.2 M is about the app permissions system.
With the new operating system, users will only need to validate if the app is available. The OS update will as well help enhance the handset's battery live through Doze and provide crucial information concerning the contents of an app with Google Now On Tap.
Users will also notice that their app information can be backed up to Google Drive every day, but it is accompanied by a 25MB cap per app. Furthermore, they will use customizable Quick Settings tiles that can be eliminated, moved, or added. A more streamlined look is evident through hidden icons in the status bar.
Another feature of the new OS is allowing users to utilize SD cards as internal memory. The feature is especially beneficial for gadgets that have low internal memory. The Android 5.2 M as well has tugged the Storage Manager to show which applications take much space and the folders to delete.
In the Android 5.2 M, Google has made other changes that will put a smile on the faces of users. For example, it has tweaked the Contacts app that enables users to delete, share, or combine contacts, the Phone Dialer, the Multi Window, and the Do Not Disturb.
The company has also incorporated the new Share Menu with Direct Share. The app outlines daily used contacts for easier access.
