Belizean club Verdes FC will face Mexican team Querétaro FC in the Group C classifications of the 2015-2016 CONCACAF Champions League at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, Belize on Tuesday, August 18.
Verdes, formerly known as Hankook Verdes, is coming off a 2-0 win against the Belmopan Bandits in the final of the Premier League of Belize, as per Belizean newspaper Amandala. They won the title via an aggregate score of 2-1 over the capital city club.
The team that would compete in the CCL is mainly composed of locals as their imports were not selected to participate in international competitions. This match against Querétaro would be their opener in this year's CONCACAF tourney.
Los Gallos Blancos have won their first assignment in the competitions in convincing fashion against Panamanian squad San Francisco FC, 2-0, last August 4 at the Estadio La Corregidora in Querétaro, Mexico.
However, their most recent game was a 1-2 loss to Liga MX champions Club Santos Laguna on Wednesday also at their own home field, as reported by Soccer Translated.
Joaquín Beltrán's men will go for their second win in the CCL to advance to the knockout stages.
The prediction is another 2-0 win for Querétaro. They are the more experienced team and have faced quality oppositions throughout the year. Walter Salazar's squad will be fortunate to settle for a draw in this match.
