Several Badminton World Federation (BWF) seeded players from China will take the next step forward to the qualifying rounds of the World Badminton Championships after the series of victories in matches held on Wednesday, Aug.12, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
BWF No. 6 Women Single (WS) player Wang Yihan won the match against Vietnamese contender Vu Thi Trang in an hour-long game, losing the second game but eventually overcoming Vu Thi Trang in the third game, scoring 21-18, 17-21 and 21-12.
Wang Yihan will meet with South Korean WS player Bae Yeon Ju seeded No. 10 in the qualifying match scheduled on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Women's Double (WD) players Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei, seeded No. 5, entered the qualifying match after they trashed their Thailand contenders Jonkonpran Kittiharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai in 34 minutes, scoring 21-12, 21-7.
The Chinese pair will take on Dutch WD players Eefje Muskens/Selena Piek, seeded No. 9, in the qualifying match on Friday.
Ma Jin/Tang Yuanting, China's other WD players, also stopped Indonesian players in a brief 30-minute match, 21-11, 21-8. The Chinese duo will battle South Korean non-seeded players Go Ah Ra/Yoo Hae Won in the qualification round.
On the other hand, Liu Xiaolong/Qiu Zihan, No. 9 MD players, won their match against Belgium players Matijs Derickx/Freek Galinski to make it to the qualifying match against Malaysian and South Korean players held on Friday.
The quarterfinals for 22nd BWF World Badminton Championship was scheduled to be held on Friday, Aug. 14, with the semi-finals on Saturday, Aug. 15, and the finals on Sunday, Aug. 16.
