There are rumors that "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin is thinking about eight books for his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.
Fans are super-excited as after the upcoming "The Winds of Winter" book, they can look forward to two more books. There are rumors that Martin has finished writing "The Winds of Winter" book and it is now being printed.
The first book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series was known as "Game of Thrones" and it was written in 1991. Unfortunately the publishers were not very convinced about the mythological fiction book and it took five years to be published. However, the response that it received from the readers was astounding and it was immediately pitched for a TV adaptation.
However, it took a decade for the celluloid dream to become a reality as Martin was not very convinced about the idea. Martin wrote four books after the initial one and each was converted into a new season of the popular TV show.
Currently, the sixth season of the "Game of Thrones" show is being filmed in Belfast and Martin is also trying to wrap up the sixth book in the series.
Lesley Groell, who is Martin's editor said that the popular author is thinking about an eight-book series.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Michael Lombardo, who is the Programming President at HBO confirmed that the TV show will have at least eight seasons.
According to iDigital Times, Martin intends to turn the whole series into an epic fantasy, even though the series initially started with political and personal relationships.
