John Cena and Seth Rollins are set to face each other on Sunday at WWE SummerSlam 205 for a winner takes all match. Should Cena win at SummerSlam, he will be tying Ric Flair's record for the most WWE championships at 16. To this, the Nature Boy says "Wooo!"
Cena holds the title as United States Champion, while The Architect owns the WWE World Heavyweight championship belt. On August 23, they will finally settle the score with the winner bringing home both titles.
Currently, the Hustle, Loyalty, Respect wrestler is a 15-time World Champion. If he win versus Rollins. Cena will be tying Flair's record at 16. As for the WWE Hall of Famer though, he will be "thrilled" to see the fighter tie or even break his record.
"I'd be thrilled if John Cena tied my record and surpassed it," the Nature Boy said during his most recent "WOOOOO! Nation!" podcast, Fansided noted.
"I think the world of John and he has been the flagship for the company for a long time and if John were to catch that title again and then he can surpass the record, I would be very proud of him."
While many are rooting for The Champ to win the title, recent rumors seem to prove otherwise.
A new series of John Cena merchandise are set to drop this week with "15x", short for 15-time world champ, printed all over it. If Cena is scheduled to win his 16th on Sunday, why would WWE release "15x" merchandise line and be voided just a week after?
So far nothing has been confirmed and the only way to know whether Cena will tie Ric Flair is to watch WWE SummerSlam 2015 on Sunday, August 23.
