The bandage dress, which costs about £1,300, is made from strips of stretchy fabric similar to bandages on a body. The style initially came out in the 1980s, and several celebrities have recently been seen wearing it. They include Elle Macpherson, Victoria Beckham, Rihanna, Caitlyn Jenner and Kate Winslet, reports Daily Mail.

In an interview, he enumerated to The Mail on Sunday females who would not look good wearing the dress. These include voluptuous women who have large hips but very flat chest and lesbians used to wearing pants all their lives.

Couderc also took a swipe at older women, saying, "What you're not noticing is that our cleavage is about two inches too low because you are 55 and it's time that you should not display everything like you're 23," quotes E! News.

The brand is a favorite of many celebrities, but Couderc isolated them too by saying he would not lend dresses to celebrities who lack class. He cited "Sex and the City" actress Kim Cattrall as one celebrity who carries well the bandage dress. Couderc was against a number of reality stars wearing the dress.

Herve Leger relaunched the bandage dress in 2007 which initiated a trend for body-conscious dress. Several high street brands such as Topshop, Reiss, French Connection and Next made more body-con dressed at lower prices that Herve Leger's.

However, Couderc was also shamed by BCBG Max Azria Group, the parent company of Herve Leger. BCBG brand representatives said Couderc's statements were "shocking" and "appalling."
