Legend comes to life in the first official trailer of Paul McGuigan's upcoming "Victor Frankenstein."
As follow-up to the cinematic squish of McGuigan's film at the San Diego Comic-Con in July, 20th Century Fox has given fans what to expect from the horror drama film.
Running in two minutes and seventeen seconds, the film trailer features the origins of the iconic fictional character. With an honorable vision on upholding the welfare of humanity, young scientist Victor Von Frankenstein and his apprentice Igor perform a revolutionary study on immortality. However, their scientific experiment backfires and the two have to think of ways to reverse it.
Along with the modernized adaptation of the iconic fictional character, fans will see a kind of bond similar to the character relationships in "Sherlock Holmes," according to Cinema Blend. Also, the film presents a blend of Victorian and dreadful creepy-crawlies parallel to Stephen Sommers' "Van Helsing" to some extent.
In addition to some jump-scare sequences, "Victor Frankenstein" adds a "bromance" twist between Frankenstein and Igor to balance the horror and stir the fans' emotions while watching the film, as per Slash Film.
Based on modern adaptations of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel "Frankenstein," "Victor Frankenstein" is told on Igor's point of view. It also features his obscure history, along with his liberating bond with Von Frankenstein. Igor becomes a witness on how Frankenstein turn out to be the folk lore people are familiar with at present.
"Victor Frankenstein" stars "Harry Potter" actor Daniel Radcliffe and "X-Men: First Class" actor James McAvoy as the titular character Frankenstein. Along with them, the film also stars Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott, Louise Brealey, Mark Gatiss, and Freddie Fox, among others.
With "Push" director McGuigan set to helm the film, "American Ultra" writer Max Landis is on board to pen the screenplay. Mairi Bett, Derek Dauchy, John Davis, and Brittany Morrissey will co-produce the upcoming film.
"Victor Frankenstein" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 25. Watch the trailer here:
