"Transformers" star Megan Fox has split with her husband for five years Brian Austin Green due to issues related to her acting career, according to reports.

Fox and Green's relationship has been lately plagued with controversies, but new reports revealed that the two were already separated earlier this year. A source close to the couple told Us Weekly that the actress and the former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star decided to spend time apart six months ago.

While sources did not give the exact cause of the split, one insider confirmed that things between the two have been rocky. "They fight about her career," the source said, adding that Green would prefer Fox to "focus on the family more than being obsessed with getting roles."

While news of their separation grabbed headlines just recently, the twosome had given hints of having a rocky relationship on several occasions since last year.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in April 2014, the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" actress admitted that her sex life with Green had gone. "Brian doesn't get any intimacy whatsoever," Fox said.

And while the pair took a vacation in Hawaii in January where they were spotted acting cozy and holding hands, they did not appear to be wearing their wedding rings. Similarly, Fox stepped out without her wedding band when she attended a movie premiere the following month, as well as on other separate occasions.

Another major clue to the status of their marriage was Green's latest "Flipping Out" appearance. The actor filmed the hit reality show between November 2014 and April 2015, but Fox notably never made an appearance on the show.

In addition, "Flipping Out" premier episode showed Green working with the show's hosts to remodel a Camarillo home intended for his family. However, in the seventh episode, which aired on Aug. 12, it was revealed that the actor decided not to revamp the house anymore and to sell it instead.

Green and Fox started dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of the latter's show "Hope & Faith." They got engaged in 2006 but called it off three years after.

The actor re-proposed in 2010 and the pair wed soon after in a private ceremony in Hawaii. They share two sons, Noah Shannon, 2 1/2, and Bodhi Ransom, 18 months.
