The second day of military operations continues as Israeli aircraft attacks target in Syria. Israel claim that their action is in retaliation after militants fighting for the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad started firing rockets into Galilee and the Israel controlled region of the contested Golan Heights.
Five civilians lost their lives after an Israeli missile hit a car in the Quneitra region of Syria. On the other hand, Israel claims that it is targeting the group held responsible for the earlier attacks.
Despite allegations coming from Israel, the Islamic Jihad denies any involvement about the recent rocket attack that is being pinned on them. On top of that, the rocket fired into Israel did explode but no casualties were reported.
There are several angles about the recent rocket attack. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that an Iranian commander directed and facilitated the attack.
A defense official from the Israeli army said that four people were killed during the airstrike conducted on Aug. 21. The official told The Guardian, "We know of at least four of them who were killed."
The first day of Israel's military offensive against Syria managed to hit a key military position two government buildings. The offensive killed one personnel while wounding seven others.
Tel Aviv University expert on matters about Syria Eyal Zisser explain to Bloomberg that the current violence is a part of an "ongoing story, where from time to time there are efforts by Hezbollah to organize groups to attack Israel." On the other hand, Hezbollah did not offer to comment about the statement said by Zisser.
