"Sinister 2" actress Shannyn Sossamon has revealed that she uses songs for the characters that she plays. For Ciaran Foy's horror film, in which she plays a mother named Courtney Collins, one of the songs in her playlist is a song by Sting.
"I do have a playlist for Courtney," Sossamon told Billboard. She said she would feel more comfortable keeping the private because it has a lot of music she heard when she was young that made her feel really uncomfortable because the adults around her loved it so much and "thought they were so cool listening to these songs and drinking beer."
One of the songs in Sossamon's playlist for her "Sinister 2" character is "The Bed is Too Big Without You" by The Police. She said she loves the intro to the song as it kind of fades in and the way Sting sings it and the song's groove are just great.
In real life, Sossamon has two songs Audio, 12, and Mortimer, 3. In "Sinister 2," her character is a mother running from her abusive husband whose two sons are haunted by the demon Bughuul.
In another interview with Den of Greek, Sossamon said she is not a "passionate horror film fan." She explained that she will watch a horror film only if a friend recommends it to her as a scary one with amazing pictures, acting and music.
Released on Aug. 21, "Sinister 2" also stars James Ransone, Robert Daniel Sloan, Dartanian Sloan, Lea Coco, Tate Ellington, John Beasley, Lucas Jade Zumann, Jaden Klein, Laila Haley, Caden M. Fritz, Olivia Rainey, Nicholas King, Michael B. Woods and Howie Johnson, among others.
