It is a given that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will arrive first via the Google Nexus 2015 smartphones but those who prefer Android devices made by Samsung can also get a first taste of the new operating system through the new handsets Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The two are confirmed to be sweetened by Google's new candy software soon, not ahead of the LG Nexus 5 2015 and Huawei Nexus 6 2015 but the first among Samsung's flagship devices, tech blog site You Mobile said in a new report. Marshmallow will start powering the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ in early 2016 but the same report did not mention a specific release date.
As can be expected, Android Marshmallow will first reside on Samsung's 2015 flagship lineup that includes the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the dual-SIM version of the Galaxy S6. Key devices from 2014 were also mentioned in the You Mobile report and among the most notables are the Galaxy Alpha, the Galaxy Note 4 and its dual-SIM version and the tablet Galaxy Tab A.
Samsung itself has provided a glimpse of how Galaxy device users will benefit from the anticipated Marshmallow upgraded (infographic of which can be viewed here) and among the highlighted new features are Quick Fingerprint Access, Auto Backup and Power Saving. The user interface is also expected to significantly change from Lollipop to Marshmallow though the central theme will likely remain Material Design-esque.
It is a little odd though that the Galaxy S5 was left out in the report yet it is likely that the 2014 Samsung flagship will chew in Android 6.0 at around the same time that Note 4 will take the OS in.
The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are set for a global release date in late August 2015 or around four months ahead of Android 6.0 Marshmallow if the arrival will happen by January 2016.
