Superman has been rumored to appear in David Ayer's upcoming DC Comics film "Suicide Squad."
In his interview with Metro, Henry Cavill said that he would not be part of Ayer's forthcoming film. However, the actor added that might appear in a "Suicide Squad" sequel. With Cavill playing an inconic character in DC's Cinematic Universe, the actor might be engaged with Warner Bros. in producing multiple films.
The exclusion of the Man of Steel in Ayer's film has a rationale in it, according to Slashfilm. "Suicide Squad" is highly likely to be set primarily in Gotham City, which implies that Batman, who is played by Ben Affleck, would share the big screen with the titular anti-villain team. Moreover, Superman will be busy in Metropolis, which places him out of the scene.
The higher number of views of Ayer's "Suicide Squad" trailer than Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" also suggests that fans would like to explore and engage with the titular villains' lives, as they have already seen a number of films and series about the superhero team.
While Superman will not be seen in Ayer's "Suicide Squad," Cavill appearing in the film's sequel has a high probability, as DC will also release a "Justice League" film, which features the Man of Steel and the dark Knight in an established superhero team. This is in line with Warner Bros. plan, which is to set a good foundation for the DC Comics storyline.
"Suicide Squad" stars Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Adam Beach, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Joel Kinnaman, Jay Hernandez, Common, Viola Davis, Scott Eastwood, and Ike Barenholtz, among others.
Menawhile, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, among others.
Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is slated to premiere in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016 while Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is slated to hit theaters in United States on Mar. 25, 2016. Watch the official "Suicide Squad" trailer here:
