"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling has shown affirmation to a fan theory saying that Albus Dumbledore is Death.
Rowling tweeted on Aug. 21, saying that Dumbledore as Death is a beautiful theory, which fits to one of the tales in her fantasy novel. The author's tweet stemmed from a tweet from user Abbie Louise, asking Rowling's favorite fan theory. Overall, Rowling's tweet has got a lot of positive feedbacks, with some fans saying that their minds were "blown."
Death is part of a tale of three brothers in Rowling's seventh and final novel "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." According to the tale, the three brothers made an attempt to get the better off Death, who gives each of them a reward.
The first brother received a powerful Elder Wand; however, he died for having it. The second brother wished to bring back the dead to life, but he committed suicide when he failed to review the woman he loves. The third brother wished for something that will let him live without Death after him; thus he received the Cloak of Invisibility. He lived, became old, and reunited with Death, his new friend.
The theory that Dumbledore is Death is supportive to the events in the "Harry Potter" films, According to Metro. Aside from the Elder Wand, Hogwart's headmaster also possesses the Resurrection Stone and the cloak of Invisibility.
As per USA Today, these facts have also led fans to speculate that Voldemort, who is thirsty for the powerful wand, represents the first brother. Snape, who desires a Resurrection Stone to revive people who he value, is the second brother. Then, Potter is the third brother, as all he wanted is a happy life without Death's threats.
The theory Rowling has mentioned in her tweet shows an interesting link among Dumbledore, Voldemort, Snape, and Potter. Dumbledore is linked to the deaths of Voldemort and Severus Snape, not to mention that he was the one who gave Potter the cloak. The only difference is that Potter did not die like the third brother; he managed to move on with his life.
