LG has confirmed that its second flagship smartphone is on the way in the latter part of 2015 but stopped short of pointing to an upcoming release date involving the rumored LG G4 Pro. The South Korean company also downplayed the possibility of a super premium phone coming out of its production lines.
The main thrust for LG is to boost the performance of the company's mobile division beginning in the fourth quarter 2015, according to company chief Choo-joon Ho. This will be achieved by rolling out fresh devices in the remaining months of the year.
The new smartphones, according to Korean news site ET News, will be bannered by what is regarded as the follow up to the LG G4, serving as the LG's second flagship that follows the business model of the giants like Apple and Samsung. It appears too that the main act will be supported by "medium and low-priced inexpensive models.
The 2H 2015 push by LG is designed to "to look for a turnaround in its performance in second half," ET News added on its report.
LG, however, clarified that it never labelled the G4 follow up as something of a super premium kind, opting as well not to provide further details on its so-called second flagship phone.
The move, G4Games said, is puzzling as it is unlikely that the LG G4 will be succeeded by something uninteresting or unexciting. The minimum expectation is for LG to produce a handset that will surpass what were already seen with the G4. LG needs something like the LG G4 Pro or the G Note phablet to generate interests that could actually translate to good sales numbers.
And the G4 sequel must deliver on some of the rumored specs to really make a difference like stylus and 4GB of RAM. But VR Zone is speculating that LG might have encountered issues in deploying Snapdragon 820 with the G4 Pro, which explains its sudden change of tone.
The company is trying to sound off that LG fans need to manage their expectations so as not to get disappointed later on.
Also, LG did not touch on the subject of the LG G4 Pro or any of its smartphones being considered as base-model for the Google Nexus 2015 release date.
