During an interview at a media event on Tuesday night, mainland Chinese actress Cecilia Liu, also known as Liu Shishi, might have exposed that she and Taiwanese actor Nicky Wu are planning their wedding.
Liu was being interviewed to promote her new drama series, "Precious Youth," when she was asked about her plans with regards to children. She responded with, "Maybe we should plan the wedding first."
After realizing what she had said, she quickly corrected herself by adding, "We're not at that stage yet! We've only just started talking about it."
The interviewer then asked her what kind of wedding she wanted. The 28-year-old actress said that she still was not sure whether she and Nicky would want a Western ceremony of a Chinese ceremony.
"It'll be a massive operation, so we're only thinking about it at the moment," Liu added.
Her comments have been interpreted to mean that there would be more than one wedding, with one in Beijing, where her family is from, and one in Taiwan, where Wu is from.
The couple met when they were starring as the two lead characters in the hit Chinese drama series "Scarlet Heart" back in 2011.
Liu and Wu confirmed that they had a relationship in Nov. 2013.
In Jan. 2015, Wu announced in his Weibo account that he and Liu were legally married. The announcement was accompanied with a picture of two wedding rings placed on top of two Chinese wedding certificates.
On June 1, Wu decided to propose to Liu again, leading people to believe that they would have a wedding ceremony.
However, they have both been busy with their respective careers. With full schedules, neither of them have had time to prepare for a wedding.
During the same interview, Liu was asked why she looked so happy and radiant, and if it was because Wu took good care of her. She nodded, smiled and said, "Yes, we get to eat supper every night."
