Xiaomi has begun to roll the beta MIUI 7 ROM after its announcement of MIUI 7. It is now ready for download and users can install it on their supported Xiaomi devices.

The beta MIUI 7 ROM global developer version can be downloaded on the following devices: Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Xiaomi Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, Xiaomi Redmi 2, and Redmi 1s, NDTV Gadgets reported. Users need o install it manually via Recovery ROM because the automatic download is not yet available.

The new update offers revived UI, Child Mode, personalized themes, improved battery management and 30 percent faster response time, support for facial recognition in photos, and support for Indian language and others.

Its XXL Text is one of the new features where users can change the font into five different sizes, giving a good reading experience. Another good feature of the new update is the DND that can be combined with Xiaomi’s Mi Band, detecting when the user have fallen asleep and the smartphone will automatically go into DND mode. It also offers SMS filter feature, filtering all the messages automatically from the numbers that are not part of the user’s contact list, according to BGR.

As for the steps in downloading and installing the beta MIUI 7 ROM, the following process must be followed:

1. User needs to identify first their smartphone version and download the Recovery ROM. User have to rename the downloaded ROM file to update.zip on the computer.

2. Xiaomi smartphone should be connected to a laptop using a Micro-USB cable, and then copy the ROM file downloaded into the root directory of the internal storage of the device (it be put in any other folder).

3. Key in the Recovery mode of the device. User can do it either by using Launch Updater app on the device or turn off the mobile phone while holding Volume+ button and Power button at the same time to enter Recovery mode.

4. Upon entering into the Recovery mode, user should select the language and choose update.zip to System One and confirm. It will update automatically afterwards. Once the update is done, select Reboot to System One, and then the device should boot to the MIUI 7 version.

It is still possible that Xiaomi users may encounter bugs and issues because the update is still in beta. The Chinese tech company guarantees that they will offer update to the beta every two weeks.
