The tech giant Google has revealed the new version of its Android mobile operating system. Android Marshmallow, also known as Android 6.0, is currently available to be tested on some Nexus handsets such as Nexus 9, Nexus 6 and Nexus 5. Here is the Android Marshmallow release news for Moto X 2014, Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X Play, Moto G 2015 and Moto E.
Traditionally, Google launches new Android versions to it co-branded Nexus handsets. However, Android Marshmallow is predicted to come first on the new Nexus 6 and 5 handsets.
One smartphone will be manufactured by the electronics maker LG and the other handset will be built by the Chinese manufacturer Huawei, according to Know Your Mobile.
The final developer preview of Android Marshallow has already been released by Google. Therefore, the search giant will send out the official consumer version soon. The company will subsequently release it to previous original equipment manufacturer partners such as HTC, Asus, LG , Sony, Samsung and Motorola after rolling it out to the Nexus range.
Motorola released two flagship models, the Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition, in July. These handsets will be included in the Android Marshmallow update roster along with Moto X 2014.
The new Moto E and Moto G 2015 will also get the Android 6.0 update. However, they will possibly get it shortly after the flagship devices have been upgraded.
The Moto X Pure Edition will become available in September for $400 off-contract. On the other hand, Moto X Play is only available in Latin America, Europe and Canada, Phone Arena reported.
Moto X Pure Edition as well as Moto X Play runs the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. However, Moto X 2014 was powered by the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system, but is now upgradable to Android 5.1 Lollipop. It is expected that these handsets will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update during the last quarter of this year.
