Chinese film and TV actor Chen Xiao and Taiwanese actress-singer-model Michelle Chen are exclusively dating.
Chen’s manager affirmed the relationship and called the stars “a pair,” reported AsiaOne.
Xiao, 28, and Michelle, 31, were the lead actors of “The Romance of the Condor Heroes” (Dec. 2014-March 2015).
The wuxia TV series is an adaptation of the 1957 novel, “The Return of the Condor Heroes” (or “The Giant Eagle and Its Companion”) by Jin Yong, the pseudonym used by Cha Leung-yung, aka Louis Cha, co-founder and first editor-in-chief of Hong Kong-based Chinese-language newspaper Ming Pao.
Their romance onscreen continued in the real world.
Xiao was only 10 when he received his first acting role for the 1997 TV series, “Our Class Song.” His first movie role was for the 2010 action mystery, “Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame,” with Andy Lau, Carina Lau and Li Bingbing as lead stars.
He will be seen again in Hu Ming Kai and Hu Yi Juan’s upcoming historical TV drama, “Cloud in the Song.” On the big screen, he stars opposite Ariel Lin (“Prince of Lan Ling,” “Sweet Alibis”) in the Korean-Taiwan-Chinese co-production suspense movie, “The Mysterious Family,” directed by South Korean Park Yu Hwan and set for release this year.
Currently showing in cinemas is Tony Chan’s “Bride Wars” where Xiao is one of the casts.
Michelle’s portrayal of an intelligent and outgoing student in Giddens Ko’s 2011 blockbuster romance, “You Are the Apple of My Eye,” won her an award at the 12th Chinese Film Media Awards in 2012 and earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 6th Asian Film Awards in 2012 and at the 48th Golden Horse Awards in 2011.
She was in Hawaii for the filming of the U.S.-China mystery movie, “Pali Road,” directed by Jonathan Lim. She stars opposite Singapore-born American actor-singer Jackson Rathbone, the vampire Jasper Hale of the “Twilight” series.
The closing theme song of “The Condor Heroes,” “Ni Wo” (“You and Me”), were sang by Xiao and Michelle.
Well, it’s confirmed: it’s “them” now.
