When it comes to tablet Apple is king and it remains so even as the iPad Air is approaching its twelfth month in circulation. Samsung, however, disagrees and is eager to prove that the new Galaxy Tab S2 is the best tablet around.

So far, reviews of the Tab S2, unboxed in two flavors - the 9.7-inch and the 8-inch - appear to support the South Korean tech giant that its latest tablet offerings have the chops to easily overwhelm both the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3. Per the latest review by Yahoo! Tech, the Tab S2 will outperform not only the two iPads but the rest of the competition.

According to the same report, here are the reasons why:

Gorgeous and light finish

Samsung remains unabashed in modelling its flagship devices after Apple's but the in the Tab S2, the company went the extra mile. The 2014 iPads are downright pretty but the Tabs S2s are prettier. And slim and light the Samsung tablets are, Daniel Howley of Yahoo said.

The Air 2 already stuns with its 0.24-inch slimmed down profile but Samsung managed to further trim the bigger Tab S2 down to 0.22-inch while keeping the device light at 0.86lbs. The bigger iPad, on the other hand, weighs 0.96lbs.

The 8-inch Tab S2 has the same 0.22-inch thickness of its bigger brother but the compact slate is significantly lighter at 0.58lbs.

Retina-busting display

For years, the iPad display lorded it over with its super-clear Retina screen rendering technology but the Tab S2 looks headed to ending that rule this 2015. Both Tab S2s have bright 2048 x 1536 display resolution that Yahoo said is the best industry at the moment, readily besting the once unmatched iPad screen prowess.

Reading, surging the Net, watching movies or playing games - no matter the activity the Tab S2 delivers supreme mobile display experience, the review said.

The power specs

In most cases, Samsung flagship tablets out-spec their Apple rivals and the same applies to the iPad-Tab S2 tussle. Powering both Android devices is the same 8-core Exynos monster chip that animates the Galaxy Note 4, which Samsung paired with 3GB of RAM.

The result is a stunning beastly machine that is able to take on anything thrown at it with ease.

Multitasking monster

Yet the best manifestation of the Samsung beast that the Galaxy Tab S2 is would be the ability to handle multitasking effortlessly, the Yahoo review said. Soon, the iPad Air will upgrade to iOS 9 and users can start viewing or working on two app windows at the same time plus a picture-in-picture tool to allow for watching media while tinkering on other things.

Samsung, however, has anticipated the iOS 9 bump and tweak the Android Lollipop running the Tab S2 in a way that the software permits the simultaneous launch of up to five app windows in minimized mode and according to Yahoo the Tab S2 chip and RAM provision lived up to the promised productivity feature. Multi-window feature, which runs two apps side by side, remains an option.

As the tech world waits when the iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 4 release date would be, the Galaxy Tab S2 in both flavors are ready to take home. Buyers need to pay $400 for the 8-inch edition and $500 for the 9.7-inch variant.
