"Umbrella" hit maker Rihanna was faced by a group of angry anti-fur protesters who briefly disrupted the launch of the singer's new fragrance at Macy's in Brooklyn, New York on Aug. 31, Monday.
Rihanna was present at the venue to unveil her new fragrance when a group of activists burst in and started shouting slogans like "Shame on Rihanna, Fifty dead animals-one fur coat." They were also flashing placards featuring cuddly animals alongside phrases like "Skinned alive."
The security of the 27-year-old beauty was quick to step in who forcibly remove the protesters from the building. The singer, who did take notice of the commotion, however, continued to launch her new fragrance line and refused to comment on the accusations.
This is not the first time that the Barbadian singer has come under the fire over her fetish for animal-skin products. Back in 2012, she was criticized heavily by PETA for flaunting thigh-high snake-skin boots and is often slammed for wearing fur coats.
"Rihanna may not have a clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive," Mirror quoted a PETA spokesperson as saying.
Meanwhile, the romance rumors continue to swirl about the singer and Lewis Hamilton. The singer, who was earlier linked to footballer Karim Benzema, is now said to be dating the Formula One racer with whom she was spotted recently on a yacht cruising around the Caribbean.
"We've been friends for a while. We get to hang out every now and again," Hamilton told E! News at the 2015 MTV VMA before adding that he has known Rihanna for a long time.
