According to The Huffington Post, the country singer gave a heartfelt rendition of Loretta Lynn's popular 70s single. Many fans were surprised by Lambert's song choice and speculated that it was obviously a jab at Shelton.
After the performance, Lambert thanked Lynn for writing a song which was ahead of its time. She added that although it was considered inappropriate back then, it helped promote women empowerment. In the 70s, "Rated X" was reportedly considered such a scandalous song, that many country DJs refused to air the track.
The song encouraged women to file for divorce when they are no longer happy with their partner. The country singer legend, however, warned them that they have to be prepared of what people may say.
Back in July, Shelton and Lambert confirmed that they are getting a divorce. Although the couple has yet to reveal the real reason for the split, insiders claim that it was because of Lambert's incessant cheating.
An insider told Star magazine, via Youth Health Mag, that Lambert only married Shelton to advance her career. It was said that she fell out of love years ago but decided it was best to stay together for the sake of the fans.
The publication claimed that the "Over You" singer was seeing multiple men behind her husband's back. Sources claimed that it was Shelton who filed for a divorce after he found out about his wife's affairs.
