Rumors suggest that the iPhone 6S on release date is but a minor from upgrade from the iPhone 6 - having the same build and design plus the same basic storage of 16GB. The iOS 9 flagship, however, is bringing a killer upgrade to the table that potentially will beat the likes of Moto X 2015 and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 - best smartphone camera ever.
Things that have been attributed to the next iPhone so far seem not compelling enough to upgrade. Some reports say the 6S is practically the iPhone 6S of 2014 and there are more reasons to skip it than go for a buy. According to MacRumors, both the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be slightly thicker than their predecessors, yet another justification to just wait out for what could prove as the real overhaul - the iPhone 7 on 2016.
But gearing up to explode from the seemingly familiar iPhone 6S shell is a feature upgrade that according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo will differentiate the handset from the iPhone 6 and the rest of the competition. And in a huge way too. Kuo is convinced that the 6S will prove a stand out because of its killer camera features, per the report from 9to5Mac.
The well-known Apple insider is saying in a new note that Apple is indeed retiring the 8MP main shooter that was introduced with the iPhone 4S in 2011. In its stead, the next iPhone camera will boast of a 12-megapixel rear sensor and boosted further by hardware and software bumps. But Kuo did not mention if dual lens, supposed to equip the iPhone 6S camera with DSLR capabilities, on the main is part of the deal.
What the Apple watcher is sure of - a front camera that will make selfie addicts happy. The 6S secondary shooter is jumping to 5MP to slug it out with the best out there - the new Moto X and the Note among them, Kuo wrote.
And photography expert Austin Mann agrees with the KGI expert. The 6S camera is the biggest selling point of the handset, Mann was reported by BGR as saying in a report. "This (the iPhone 6S camera) will be the biggest feature to roll out," Mann said.
Among the killer features to expect is enhanced low light capabilities and the ability to record 4K video clips, the expert said. And if the Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 introduced a shortcut to launch the camera app by double-clicking the home button, the new Force Touch sensor technology will allow easy access of the 6S shooter from the lock screen, Mann predicted.
The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, powered by iOS 9, are believed to be introduced by Apple on September 9 with the actual release date said to follow shortly on the 18th.
