Auto company Hyundai recently announced that the upgraded version of the i20 supermini, named i20 Active, will be released in the European market early in 2016. The car will also debut at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show scheduled to open on Sept. 17.
According to Auto Car, the Hyundai i20 Active has been spotted several times while on test drive. Once the car hits the market, it will go head-to-head with the Volkswagen CrossPolo. The i20 Active is slightly shorter and wider compared to other conventional five-door hatchback cars on the market.
According to Car Scoops, the ride height of the i20 Active was raised by 20mm and the cars wheelbase along with its platform is similar to the regular Hyundai i20.
The i20 Active sports a newly designed skid plate on its front and rear end. The cladding along the cars wheel gives it a somewhat non-SUV style. Many car experts said that the i20 Active's chassis was custom designed to fit for European roads.
The i20 Active will come in two engine variants. A 1.4-liter petrol 99bhp engine model and a 1.4-liter diesel 89bhp. Additionally, Hyundai has also confirmed that it will offer a three-cylinder 1-liter engine for both 118bhp and 99bhp variants.
The Hyundai i20 Active is expected to hit the market within the first quarter of 2016. Hyundai has yet to confirm the car's official pricing but many industry experts pegged the car to fetch a price tag of around £10,995 or somewhere around $16,000.
The cars official price will be revealed shortly after its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
