The latest "Modern Family" season 7 spoilers suggest that Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Andy (Adam DeVine) will finally start dating in the premiere episode. Co-creator Christopher Lloyd revealed some major hints what fans can expect in the award winning sitcom.
In an interview with Deadline, Lloyd shared that viewers will get to see a different side of Hyland's character. In the past seasons, Hayley has always been portrayed as a surly teenager who can't get along with her parents Claire (Julie Bowen) and Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell).
She also had a history of having an on-again, off-again relationship with his slow-witted boyfriend Dylan (Reid Ewing). The couple eventually decided to go their separate ways to Claire's relief.
This time around, Lloyd said that Hayley has grown into a mature young woman who will be having her first "legitimate adult relationship," possibly with DeVine's character.
The co-creator said that a lot of exciting plot developments is in store when "Modern Family" season 7 returns on Sept. 23. With the younger cast Alex (Ariel Winter), Luke (Nolan Gould) and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) growing up, the dynamic of the entire family is expected to shift.
According to the International Business Times, aside from dealing with Haley, Phil and Claire will also have a difficult time accepting that Alex has gone off to college.
It also did not help that Luke is in his crazy teenage years, wanting to spend more time with his friends than his family. The youngest Dunphy will also develop a "criminal streak" in the coming episodes.
