Adidas' Runtastic unveiled its new Moment wearable devices at the IFA 2015 electronics fair, Europe's largest technology trade show. The four collections of smartwatches combine style and function. While they look like traditional timepieces they can also track the user's step count, calories burned, and sleep cycle.
The Runtastic Moment watches include 10 wrist wearables that range from $129 to $179. They are available in different colors, dial sizes, and bands.
Florian Gschwandtner is Runtastic's CEO. He explained that while the health, fitness, and tech markets have launched various connected products, there is a wide gap between the devices' style and function.
Runtastic Moment models are stylish and a cinch to use. Each user can also create his or her own healthy habits using the Basic, Fun, Classic, and Elite styles. Classic and Elite feature stainless steel metal and leather/textile straps.
The smart watch is also compatible with the Runtastic Me app through a Bluetooth wireless connection. That is for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.
Moment units can record various types of information, including step count, distance walked, calories burned, and sleep cycle. Users can also set health goals. Adidas' new watches provide LED and vibration alerts, according to Mashable.
The units contain a standard lithium battery with a 6-month "autonomy period." In other words, it does not need daily charging.
Runtastic watches are waterproof up to 300 feet (90 meters) deep, according to IBN Live.
Moment is not Runtastic's first wearables. It also launched the Orbit fitness tracker last year, and the GPS Watch in 2012.
Runtastic Moment units can be bought at the company's online store, and is also sold at certain retail stores. Shipping will start later this month.
