Some whispers claim that iPad Air 3 release will not be on Sept. 9, which is the supposed release of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. iPad Air 3 will probably make way for iPad Pro.
Rumors of Apple dropping iPad Air 3 started when Taiwanese media source Economic Daily News citing Fubon Bank analyst Liaoxian Yi, Apple decided to delay the iPad Air 3 release in 2016 to give way to the rumored iPad Pro, which is the Apple's entry in the laplet market.
Joining the iPad Pro is iPad Mini 4 to provide an alternative to consumers. Thus, consumers can expect improvements on the next generation of miniature iPad.
It seems that the tech giant thinks that the iPad Air 3 may cannibalize the iPad Pro sales since the two tablets are closer in size. Moreover, there could be problems in terms of supply if suppliers are working on three tablets.
If rumors proved to be true, iPad Pro is rumored to pack a 12.9 to 14 inches screen panel with 2,732 x 2,048 pixel resolution and the familiar 4:3 aspect ratio and 264 pixel density. According to Taiwanese media Tech News, Apple will reportedly tap Sharp and Samsung to supply the large 12.9 inch displays.
iPad Pro is also expected to simultaneously run with iOS and OS X El Capitan, according to Cult of Mac. This hinted that the tablet will be a hybrid device and will cater features of both a tablet and a notebook or laptop. Other rumored features of iPad Pro are A9 processor, Type-C USB port, a special stylus, NFC, and Force Touch technology.
iPad Mini 4, on the other hand, will pack slightly inferior specs and features, including 7.9 inch screen display, A8 processor, iOS 9, 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB variants, and 8 MP iSight camera at the back and 2.1 MP front-facing camera.
