After featuring in the Christmas special of "Only Fools And Horses" last year, David Beckham is now seriously considering to take up the role of James Bond.
As Daniel Craig's contract to play the role of Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in the official film series is about to expire, the loyal fans of the iconic footballer are putting forward his name as the next Bond.
Although it is not yet confirmed whether Beckham has been approached by the movie-makers or not, the father-of-four is reported to be preparing himself to play the role of smouldering secret agent, after being encouraged by enthusiastic fans, Daily Star reported.
The 40-year-old former Manchester United star's penchant for acting was never a secret. He has already been cast alongside Harvey Keitel in a short film, "Outlaws," and also has a speaking role in Guy Ritchie's movie "Knights of the Roundtable," in which he is playing a grotesque knight with blackened teeth.
Other names which are emerging as the prospective next Bond are Hugh Jackman and Idris Elba. Jackman, who is best known for "The Wolverine" and "X-Men" movies, has also hinted that he will seriously reconsider to play Bond. The 46-year-old actor was one of the front-runners for the part before Craig signed his contract in 2005.
On the other hand, Elba, who is one the most popular choices to be the next Bond, has claimed to Variety that despite the widespread speculation, he has never been approached by the movie-maker for a real conversation about him succeeding Craig in the iconic role.
