"The Flash" season 2 star Candice Patton recently opened up about her character Iris West's fate in the upcoming installment.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that Iris, who is a natural born leader, will step up and lead S.T.A.R Labs.
However, the actress recently clarified that Kreisberg's statement was taken out of context. She added that Iris will not become the head of S.T.A.R Labs because that task will ultimately be assigned to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).
"I don't know where you are hearing this, but I think it's a gross exaggeration that Iris is going to take over leadership at S.T.A.R. Labs," Patton said at the DragonCon.
West added that Iris will simply inspire and motivate Barry to come back to S.T.A.R Labs and ultimately save more people in Central City.
"As far as being a leader as S.T.A.R. Labs? No, that doesn't happen. Iris has a job. She works at Picture News and we know her as this iconic reporter and what I will say about her strength is that this season we will see her step into that role which I am very excited about because I think she has a lot to offer Team Flash in that way," she said.
Meanwhile, the upcoming second season of "The Flash" will feature more meta- humans, speedsters and villains. The new episode will also introduce new mysteries and will crossover with The CW's "Arrow" later on in the season.
"The Flash" season 2 will premiere on The CW this October.
