"Assassin's Creed" fans have received the newest updates about the film from Ubisoft, as well as, a first look of Michael Fassbender's character. Ubisoft also announced that an "Assassin's Creed" theme park is also on its way and will open in 2020.
"Assassin's Creed" head of content Azaïzia Aymar, answered questions regarding the upcoming film. Aymar stated that Fassbender will be playing a character named Aguilar, a new character that was made just for the film, UbiBlog announced. Though the film will feature different characters, the story will remain true and inclined to the "Assassin's Creed" games.
"Assassin's Creed" film story will take on a more modern day setting, where Fassbender's character Aguilar will learn that he is connected to an Assassin named Callum Lynch, also to be played by the actor by tapping through his genetic memories like in the game.
Aymar also added that "Assassin's Creed" film is reaching into the audience by creating a new story while staying in the "Assassin's Creed" universe. He said that Aguilar will be different from Desmond, Clay or Daniel Cross, because Aguilar/Lynch will be exploring and helping expand the lore.
Meanwhile, an exclusive photo of Fassbender dressed up as Callum Lynch designed to be a nomadic warrior personification was revealed by Yahoo! Movies. Costume designer Sammy Sheldon and team wanted to remain true to the historical visual style of the games. Lynch was given a 15th Century Spanish look, which has strong influences of Moorish decor.
